Terms of Service

Effective date: October 26, 2026 · These terms govern your use of Krona Sunlight, Krona Moonrise and Krona Tidewater — their phone apps, watch apps and watch faces (each, "the App") — and the Krona service (api.kronawerke.com, "the Service"), operated by Lord Skippy LLC, St. Petersburg, Florida, United States.

1. Agreement

By installing or using the App you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the App on devices associated with your Google account, per the Google Play Terms of Service. You may not redistribute the App, resell access to the Service, or circumvent the subscription entitlement. All intellectual property in the App, its designs, and the Service remains ours.

3. Subscriptions, trials, and refunds

All three apps work without a subscription: Krona Sunlight on its included Basic plan; Krona Moonrise with its whole sky — the cloud forecast, the stars, the aurora and the satellite passes; and Krona Tidewater on one fixed example spot, with the whole app working for that spot.

Each app sells its own auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly and yearly and purchased and billed through Google Play: Premium Data (Krona Sunlight) in Krona Sunlight, Premium Weather (Krona Moonrise) in Krona Moonrise, and Full Access (Krona Tidewater) in Krona Tidewater. They are separate purchases — one does not include another — and canceling one leaves the others untouched. The exact price in your currency, the free-trial length, and applicable taxes are shown in Google Play at the time of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and your Google account is charged the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date. A free trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless canceled first; each trial is available once per Google account. One subscription unlocks the app on up to eight devices, each phone and each watch counting as one; a device that has not checked in for 30 days (because the app was removed, for instance) frees its place. You can manage or cancel anytime in your Google Play subscriptions — canceling keeps the subscription active until the end of the already-paid period. After that Krona Sunlight returns to the included Basic plan, Krona Moonrise returns to its free sky, without the weather, and Krona Tidewater returns to its free example spot — it keeps working there, on that one break, rather than going dark. In no case is anything you set up deleted: your saved places and spots, the conditions you tuned for each of them, your units and your ring settings are all still there, and the spot you were using is still in your list to pick again if you subscribe again.

Refunds are handled through Google Play's refund process and applicable consumer law; we honor whatever Google Play grants and may additionally grant refunds at our discretion — just email us. We may change subscription prices; changes apply no earlier than your next renewal and Google Play notifies you in advance as required by its policies.

4. The weather, honestly

Forecasts are estimates derived from third-party numerical weather models. They are sometimes wrong. The App is provided for general informational purposes only and must not be relied on for safety-critical decisions — aviation, marine navigation, severe-weather protection, or any situation where inaccurate weather information could lead to harm. Always consult official warnings from your national weather authority.

The same holds for the sky. Krona Moonrise computes rise, set, phase, eclipse and satellite-pass times on your device, and they are close but not guaranteed — a satellite's orbit changes between updates of its elements, and a pass can shift or be missed. Its cloud shading is a model forecast and can be wrong, broadly so the further ahead it looks, and its aurora is a forecast of geomagnetic activity — the lights may fail to appear, or appear where it did not expect them; neither is a promise that you will or will not see anything. Never look at the Sun, directly or through binoculars, a telescope or a camera, without proper solar eye protection — not during an eclipse either, whatever the App shows. Its compass is only as good as the phone's own sensor, which nearby metal and magnets can throw off by a wide margin.

And it goes double for the sea. Krona Tidewater’s tides, waves, swell and wind are model predictions and published tide tables, not measurements, and its "verdict" is nothing more than arithmetic over the ranges you entered — a preference, not a safety assessment. It does not know about rips, rocks, sandbars, closures, local hazards, or how well you swim. It is not a navigation aid and must not be used as one. Judge the water when you get there, heed local warnings and lifeguards, and never enter the sea on the strength of a color on a dial.

The official weather warnings the apps show are the issuing agencies' own, passed on as they wrote them. They can reach the apps late, be incomplete, or be missing altogether where no source covers a place or a source is unreachable. A notification depends on your phone, its settings, Google's or Apple's push service and the network all delivering it, and may come late or not at all. They never replace the agencies' own channels, public alerting systems or the instructions of emergency services: follow those.

Rain alerts and live rain are a forecast too: the rain can come earlier, later, weaker, stronger or not at all, and on an iPhone, where our server checks the forecast every 15 minutes and Apple's push service delivers what it sends, an alert can come up to a quarter of an hour later than the forecast would allow, or not at all.

5. The Service

The Service fetches, caches, and normalizes weather, sea and sky data for the App. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it; when the Service is unreachable, the App keeps showing the last data it received and says how old it is. We may update it, change the providers behind it, rate-limit it, or — with reasonable notice where feasible — discontinue the Service. You agree not to abuse the Service: no scraping, no automated bulk requests, no attempts to circumvent rate limits or entitlement checks.

Weather data is provided by third parties under their own licenses — Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0, adapted) on Krona Sunlight's Basic plan, Apple Weather (Apple Inc.) on its Premium plan, with minute-by-minute rain from Rainbow.ai and the national radar nowcasts of Deutscher Wetterdienst, GeoSphere Austria and MET Norway, and, on the Custom plan (fetched directly from your device with your own key; the Basic plan's data through the Service when it does not answer), OpenWeatherMap (data under the Open Database License). Krona Moonrise’s cloud forecast is based on NOAA’s HRRR model (a work of the United States government) and on Deutscher Wetterdienst’s ICON models (under CC BY 4.0; based on data from Deutscher Wetterdienst, averaged over individual values), and its aurora on the forecasts of NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center; its sky is computed with Astronomy Engine (MIT License), its eclipses from “Eclipse Predictions by Fred Espenak, NASA’s GSFC”, Apophis and the dwarf planets, asteroids and comets you add from NASA JPL’s Horizons system and its Small-Body Database, its meteor showers from the International Meteor Organization’s calendar, and its satellites from orbital elements published by CelesTrak; the names its satellite search knows include data from GCAT (J. McDowell, planet4589.org/space/gcat; CC BY 4.0) and from Wikidata (CC0). Its sky-object search draws on the HYG Database (David Nash; CC BY-SA 4.0), OpenNGC (Mattia Verga; CC BY-SA 4.0), the star names of the IAU Working Group on Star Names, and Wikidata. Its Premium Weather comes from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0, adapted), including aerosol data that contains modified Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service information 2026 — neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use that may be made of the Copernicus information or data it contains — and from Rainbow.ai. Krona Tidewater’s sea data comes from Open-Meteo’s marine models under the same license, its tides from WorldTides, and the map on its spot page from Apple Maps. In all three apps, place names, when the phone’s own place lookup does not answer, come from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Those providers’ terms apply to their data in addition to these Terms.

The official weather warnings in all three apps come from the national weather and emergency services listed below, each under its own terms, with the credit those terms ask for (shown with every warning in the apps as well). This app incorporates information made freely available by MetService. Despite this, MetService is not associated with, and does not endorse, Krona Sunlight, Krona Moonrise or Krona Tidewater or how these apps use MetService information.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App and Service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In particular, we do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability of any weather information, and we accept no liability for decisions made or actions taken in reliance on it (see Section 4). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the App or Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

8. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend Service access for keys or clients that violate section 5. Sections 4, 6, 7, and 9 survive termination.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protections, you additionally retain those protections and the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this address with its effective date. Material changes will be announced in the App's store listing. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
